2008 20$ silver piece

I know these are authentic US mint coins. But I do love the image on front.

I got this nice specimen for $20. Has anyone else bought one.

You mean that they aren't authentic US Mint pieces right?

  • I caught onto these a few years back and have collected them ever since. A nice numismatic sidebar and nice looking silver bullion indeed.
Liberty mint got into some trouble with the government over these earlier this year. People wher trying to spend them as legal tender and it caused quite a stir. Goverment raided their offices , nice publicity for them as it raised the premium on them to the point where I stopped buying them.
Have tried in vain to get a nice looking copper version of one. For some reason the copper versions offered for sale does not have the same crisp stikes as the silver.

Much like the Omaha and Redfield hoards.. these two are numismatic myths... Cheers, RickO

Judging from the way the sentence continues, I'm pretty sure that was a typo, and he meant to type aren't. I hate it when I make typos like that.

The design on them isn't bad, actually.

Wow, where are the 3D glasses.... the picture reminds me of the old 3D movies when you take your glasses off! And, I actually like the obverse.

I would have to agree with you.

Have the Liberty Follies, er, Dollars always had "MSRP" on them? They may have found a way to make them more legaler.

Remember the Higley copper with "VALUE ME AS YOU PLEASE."

So what happened with these folks? Last I'd heard, the Government confiscated their entire supply along with their computers and customer lists.

Did something get worked out with the Feds?

Yea sometimes i type faster than I think. I meant to say they arent legal tender. I read the paper article where they got hit. Sad cause they make pretty good coin strikes. maybe they should go to work for the mint.
